- Music is my greatest passion, and I'm honored to be able to write about it. I've been an entertainment writer for
major daily newspapers (Sacramento Union, Sacramento Bee) and editor-in-chief of a NY-based educational music magazine
(MUSIC ALIVE!). Currently, I write about music for Sacramento magazine and other publications. I am also collaborating on a book--
my first!—with an Austin-based musician. Wish me luck.

I've had many peak experiences as a music journalist, including interviewing such legends as Paul McCartney and Burt Bacharach (top row). For the educational book "Exploring the Blues" (Cherry Lane Music/Hal Leonard Corp.), I contributed two chapters. The "Masters of Rhythm" article (for MUSIC ALIVE! magazine) shines a light on some of the greatest rhythm sections in music history. At bottom right is blues singer/pianist Katie Knipp, one of five musicians I interviewed for Sacramento Magazine (Sept. 2020 issue) about the unique challenges of keeping the music going during the COVID-19 lockdown.
